Busy Saturday

Last Saturday was a busy on for Arlo, and his folks. They wanted to get out and see the new Harry Potter movie, so Arlo got to have his first 'babysitter' experience. Jenny and Ray's friend Shellie came over, with her son (and Ray's student) Jonah, and they looked after Arlo while his parents were out watching Harry and his friends in their latest movie adventure. It was a great movie, and a great experience for Arlo. Shellie and Jonah said that it was a blast. They went for a walk outside, hung out at the house, played some games and had a great time (as the pics can attest).
It's a good thing Arlo doesn't have teeth yet Jonah!Arlo loves a good cuddle.
That afternoon Arlo headed over to his friend Iris' house, because his parents, and Shellie and Jonah, were getting together for dinner and some music with the Magills, the Endenbergs, and the Goodmans. It was a fun night, full of home cooked Indian food, and some guitar playing. Arlo had a fun and relaxing time. He was able to make it through dinner this time luckily.

Watch out Shelley E. Arlo is getting quick at grabbing things, and he knows what he wants!

What's Cookin?

This week Arlo's been trying out his first 'solid' food with home made rice cereal, and today he tasted his first butternut squash puree. He sure likes to hold the spoon, and making a mess seems to be up his alley too.
Good to the last spoonful!
I like to do it myself.

Ready for the World Cup

It isn't the 'football' his dad would hope he'd want to play with most, but at least he is showing an early interest in a sport. Mama thinks he is interested in the contrast of black and white on the ball. Honestly it seems like he is just wanting to fit the thing in his mouth.

Arlo Down Under

It looks like Arlo will get a chance to use the new passport that was just delivered to him. His mama and dad just got off of the phone with Flight Center, and they've booked tickets to New Zealand!! This trip has been a work in progress for a while, with plans to visit Ray's friend James in Christchurch, and other connections they have been making, but the past week there had been a bit of a setback. The tickets jumped in price over a thousand dollars each, and it looked like they would have to cancel the plans, but it must be meant to be. And, just to prove that good things come to those who wait, and think positive, they also were able to organize a stopover for four days in Fiji to relax on the way back.

Arlo is just itching to hit those beaches.

A Hard Day's Work

Arlo got up early with his daddy to do some cooking in the kitchen. They let mamma have a little sleep in, and then they surprised her by getting dinner ready, and bringing her breakfast in bed. But the day's work didn't stop there. Scott came over to help his daddy dig a few tons of dirt out of the basement while Arlo supervised the whole program. Here you can see how Arlo got right into the action. Clean up time!

This look kinda says that he's had enough for today, and it is time to take a rest.
Sundays are great for naps! When you work hard you deserve to rest well!
Talk about down for the count!

Thanks Roy!

Thank you to Roy for making this beautiful stained glass window. It was a wedding gift to Jenny and Ray, which they helped him design. Arlo loves looking out through the coloured glass. Ray installed it today, and it looks fantastic in the front door.

A walk in the woods

Arlo loved getting out for a walk in the woods on Saturday. Here he is in his new warm fleece, being carried by his Mama through the Gatineau Park woods near his Dad's friend Andrew's house. He had a fun evening meeting Andrew's family, and hanging out with his Aunti Tiiu, and his friends Daisy and Hayden, but the highlight, as always for Arlo, was the time spent in the great outdoors.

Arlo's first Football Game

Arlo took in his first football game this past Saturday at Lansdown Stadium. His Daddy's team, the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks were in town to take on the University of Ottawa Gee Gees in a semi final game for the Yates Cup. Arlo loved all of the action in the stands, the cheering and chanting, and the roar of the crowd during the big plays. The players running up and down the field really caught Arlo's eye, and he watched them gong back and forth. As the game went on and things were more and more exciting he really enjoyed being hoisted up high in the air when his Daddy was cheering. It was a cold crisp day, just perfect for football if you are wrapped up in your brand new Columbia snowsuit and a warm hat. He giggled and laughed the whole day. As the game was winding to its end Laurier saw its lead, which it had held since the start of the game, slip away. Ottawa had the better record for the year, but Laurier had been on a streak for the past few games. Ottawa won with a field goal in the last few minutes, but it was a great day out for Arlo and his parents. He'll be back to see Laurier get revenge when they play the next time. I guess, since his mom and dad met as U of Ottawa students, this was a win win game for Arlo.

Happy Anniversary Smiles!

Arlo is sending an extra special smile to his Grandparents for their anniversaries. Ron and Karen celebrated yesterday (November 2nd) and Heather and Larry celebrate tomorrow (November 4th). He hopes they all had, or have great celebrations. He gave a really smug looking grin for the camera while his mom was snapping away. Cheesy little guy!

Halloween Fun!

Arlo got dressed up and hit the streets looking for candy yesterday, but it was a bit late in the day for him, and before he had any success he was home for a bath and off to bed. He did get to visit with a few neighbours, and he even made a few growling 'dragon like' noises while in the outfit. He wasn't sure what to make of himself when he looked in the mirror, and on Friday when he visited Ray at school in the costume he was even more unsure of the long haired pirate who claimed to be his daddy. Either the hair, or the dark eye makeup put him off, because he didn't want to have anything to do with his dad, or the rest of the staff who were also dressed up like pirates. Jenny and Ray are looking forward to next year and seeing what Arlo makes of the Halloween thing.
