Fun in the snow

Our first winter snow day hit, and we shovelled three or four times.  The boys are all excited to be finally out doing Wintery activities.  We headed to a giant snow hill nearby for some sledding this morning, and then the boys and their mom strapped on the skis to do some cross country trekking down our street and then through the field near our house.  Tired days are ahead I believe as the snow piled up to about 45 cm in places, so we will be out for lots of adventures in the coming days.

Snow!

The first real snow of the year with any accumulation is still falling, which means that the boys were up and outside at 7:00am looking to have some adventures.  Bring on the winter fun!

Bug exhibit at nature museum

An afternoon at the nature museum for the boys is always fun.  The guys showed dad the visiting bug exhibit, and then stopped in at their favourite part of the bird exhibit- the bird hospital.  Now it is off to the Dino's and then home.

Visions of sugar plums??

Otis really wanted to hear a holiday story before bed with his brother...but he was just too tired after a long day I guess.

Here is a bit of Arlo's writing that he's has been doing in his spare time...I think wrote Otis then Arlo then something like "the race car is driving..."  With a couple of his favourite words like "bat" "the" and "Ray"

Fall Fun

As the season has changed, and the leaves have fallen, the boys have continued to spend as much time as possible outdoors.  As you can see in these photos, leaves offer a whole range of fun options for creative, and fun loving guys.
Halloween was an exciting time for the guys this year.  We decorated the front lawn with ghosts, hung ghouls from the trees, and set up a cemetary in the side yard...all in the first weekend of October!  It made for a long, and fun, season.  Arlo was set on being a bat, and Otis wanted to be Batman, which meant late nights for Jenny over the sewing machine, but their smiles made it all worth it.
The last few shots are of Arlo's investiture into Beavers.  He got his white tail and everything.  He sure was proud, and Otis was really excited about it all too.  He thought he was getting invested!  Not until you are five Otis...
