Car Wash!

The boys took advantage of the beautiful weather Saturday to wash their vehicles.  Otis helped Arlo with his big bike (he rides the two wheeler, but it is smaller, and goes slower, so he likes to jump on the big bike with training wheels and make dad run after him to keep up).  Both boys helped with the car, and helped with the interior afterwards.  Maybe we can get them a summer gig detailing cars...?

4th Birthday-oh boy!

Today was Arlo's fourth birthday, and it started with a very excited boy waking around 5:52 am, right about the time he was born four years back.  He had been excited going to sleep the night before, so it was no wonder that he woke ready for action.
He was watching the clock all morning, giving updates like " it's 9:43...now it's 9:44...now it's 9:47", so obviously he was pumped up with the idea that his friends were coming over for a party.  The party went off well.  Some indoor snacks and crafts, outdoor games, and then lunch, follows by cake.
It was the longest two and a half hours ever, and yet it was so busy that it flew by in a way.
Arlo n Otis are just holding on by a thread after our family dinner.  Hopefully this means an easy bedtime...
Arlo is thrilled about the visit by all of his close friends, and the gifts, and the cake (Spider man cake thanks to Jenny's culinairy skills), and has been pounding on his hungry hungry hippos game for ages.
Great day for us all!

Tired and happy, at the end of the day...Arlo is all droopy eyes n smiles, whole Otis melts into Mamma's arms

Play hard -fall hard

Arlo took a tumble yesterday.  He was pushing an off reader car at his friends house when it hit a rock.  Car stopped, he kept going...until he landed! On his face as you can see.

Jedi apprentices

Our backyard became a Jedi training academy today after daddy manufactured some lightsabers out of pool noodles.

Hippity Hoppy Easter!

The boys woke up this morning, like any other morning, but when Arlo was told that it was Easter morning, he hopped out of bed and ran to get his brother, calling out that it was time to see what the Easter Rabbit had left for them.  Arlo really gets what is happening, and Otis picked up on it right away.  It is amazing to see them over look treats hiding at eye level, once, twice, three times, or more.  I think there might be eggs found for days to come...
Otis would not make use of his basket to collect eggs, and instead insisted on keeping them in his hands as he found more.  Eventually he could not hold them all, and he agreed to keep them in a basket, but he knew this meant he could not eat them all, so there were some tears.

Yesterday the boys took part in an egg hunt in our local park.  They loved roaming the park and finding hidden treats.  Big brother took care of little brother, and made sure that he always had some to find, or put in his basket.

We may need to check Otis into the Betty Ford clinic, as he seems to have developed a taste for chocolate eggs, and boy is it tough to keep them from him.  He is very...determined when he wants something.  Luckily Easter comes only once a year, and we can make sure that the chocolate is gone, or out of site, very soon.

Recovery

We got through most of the winter without much in the way of illness in the house, and then we let our guard down I guess...
Arlo got sick around march break, and we have been recovering ever since.  Otis had to stay home form school last week for a day, and we monitored him and a fever, and then a rash came on Friday.  CHEO doctors figured if was fifths disease, and we had to wait for the virus to run its course, but by Monday his eyes were filled with yellow discharge, so he has been home all week so far.  He is looking better, but it still seems like he went a few rounds with Rocky Balboa.
Arlo is feeling better, but isn't overly well rested.  Here are some shots of the guys...
