Bigger, Faster, Stronger

Here is Aro first arriving home from the hospital in his favourite outfit with squirrels on it.

As you can see there was plenty of room for him in it back then.
Here he is today in the same outfit and hat that came down over his eyes when we put it on him at the hospital. He looks like he needs some gold chains on his chest the way it is down into a v-neck on him now. Looks like a wrestling outfit now. Makes sense though since he has grown three or four inches, and doubled in weight. Three months old yesterday, and growing strong!

Camping at Tremblant

Arlo loved his first experience camping so much that we decided to take another crack at it and headed off to Tremblant National Park for a few relaxing days. The nights got down to 4 celsius, which was chilly for mom and dad, but Arlo loved it. He sure does sleep well in the fresh air.
Arlo loved relaxing around the campfire with his Mama. He gave a whole new meaning to the word lounge.
Check out these fun guys (fungii, get it?)
He'll have to get a lot bigger if he wants a future as a lumberjack.

Arlo's first crush

Arlo had some special visitors last night for dinner. Kathy, Rory, and Iris came to share some stories from their trip to Italy, and to catch up on all of the summer's adventures. We had a nice relaxing visit with them, and they loved getting a chance to spend some time getting to know Arlo. He was really laid back for the visit, and enjoyed hanging with each of them, but it was clear that he was smitten with Iris from the start. He spent the whole evening eyeing her from wherever he was in the room. I am not sure if he had a better time when she was holding him, or if he liked sitting in Rory's hands so he could coo and smile at Iris as she made faces for him. I think he might have his first crush. I guess this means that Iris had better play it cool for her last year in Ray's class, as she wouldn't want to break little Arlo's heart and have it effect her report card....

Hangin with Grandma K

Arlo has been enjoying a visit with his grandparents this week, who are in the area camping in their new trailer. As you can see by these pics he wasn't sure what to make out of Grandma K, but he liked hangin with her.

Arlo's First Camping Trip

Arlo spent three nights this past week sleeping under the stars at Bon Echo Provincial Park. It was his first ever camping trip, and he loved it thoroughly. He slept like a log one night, going to bed at about 11 and not stirring until almost seven the next morning. That fresh air sure did knock him out! He was happy as a clam looking up at all the trees, going for nature walks, hanging at the campfire, paddling in the water at the beach each day, and checking out the famous cliffs at the park. He especially enjoyed spending time with his pals Hayden, Daisy and Linden, while his folks enjoyed hanging with thier folks. Everyone was impressed with how relaxed Arlo was. He is a future outdoorsman that is for sure.

Mom and Dad's Anniversary

Arlo helped his mom and dad celebrate their first anniversary (August 8th) by going along on a picnic to the Governor General's residence where he watched his very first cricket match. Arlo loves hanging outdoors. Mom and Dad took him out for dinner at a local brew pub (Dad's newly discovered favorite), and they finished off the day drinking the bottle of champagne they brought back from their honeymoon in France (it was Italian sparkling wine actually, but that is a whole othere story).

Stylin'

Arlo really rocks this plaid outfit his friend Stacey gave him. Look out ladies!

Arlo's found his favourite spot on the sofa.

Loooong Road Home

Well, our two and a half week odyssey was full of fun, family, and friends, but we were happy to be on our way home down Highway 7 back to Ottawa. We were planning to get home, unpack, and relax with a quiet evening at home as a family. Arlo had other plans however, and the trip took.....longer than "usual". Here are some pics of us just East of Silver Lake, taking a breather and letting Arlo get a rest from the car seat. It was good to get home... finally.

Arlo's Gone Hollywood!

Arlo was loving the camera for this photoshoot, and loving the sunglasses and outfit Auntie Jamie, Cousin Brook-Lyn, and Allen gave him. He's ready for the paparazzi.

Looking Good for Auntie Kim

Arlo got all dressed up for his visit with Auntie Kim. He really enjoyed the three nights he spent in Mississauga with his cousin Katie and Uncle Terry. It was great to spend a few relaxing days together.

First Swim

Arlo has been hit and miss in the car over the course of our trip home. He wailed from the cottage to Lindsay (I guess he didn't want to leave), making our trip twice as long as normal. Then he was happy as a clam for the drive from Lindsay to Rob and Nicole's place in Whitby a day later. We escaped the heat in their pool, and Arlo got a chance to go right in for a swim for the first time. As you can see he didn't love it initially, but he warmed up to it pretty quick.

Arlo really loved hanging out with Rob and Nicole, and their kids Danielle and Reid. He is fussing a bit in this picture, but it didn't last long. It was great to relax and catch up with them. They are expecting a little girl in just a few weeks. Arlo can't wait to meet her, but Rob might have something to say about that....

Good to Get Away

It was really good to get away from it all at the cottage for a few days. Our little trip home was almost three weeks long, and busy, but there were restful days like this one we spent down on the dock at Grandma and Grandpa K's place.

The fresh air made Arlo too sleepy to listen to Mom and Dad talk about the stone pathway they built many summers ago at the cottage, but here is a shot of him and Mom at the bottom of that path by the water.

Coolin at the Cottage

Arlo was really taken in by the thousand shades of green he saw in the forest at the cottage. As you can see all the fresh air and sunshine really helped him to relax.

Arlo and his Mama chilled down by the water, watching the ducks, loons, herons, and fishies go by. Check out the cool 'poor boy' hat he was sporting to keep the sun off his head. Seven weeks old and stylin!

Arlo is ready to help out his Grandpa Larry and his Daddy around the cottage with his very own Arlo sized wheelbarrow. This wheelbarrow belonged to a student in Ray's class, named Mikeala, who loved it when she was young, so she fixed it up, repainted it, and gave it to little Arlo to enjoy (along with some of her fav books and other toys). After spending all day yesterday moving dirt and building 4 foot tall retaining wall along the whole front of the cottage, Ray can't wait for Arlo to be able to start lugging dirt and pitching in.

Arlo didn't go all the way in, but he did test the waters on Drag Lake, in Haliburton, by getting in with his Daddy, and dangling his feet in the lake. Arlo and Daddy thought the water was a beautiful temperature for a hot summer day. He is dying to take the kayak or canoe for a spin.
