Ray and Arlo just Chillin'

Today was a great day to get out for a walk, so Arlo headed down to the Byward Market with mom and pops. Ray and him were stylin in their matching Run DMC tees. They drew a few comments during their tour. Arlo likes cruising in his stroller, but loves mixing it up and staying close to his mom in the sling from time to time.

Gift from Ray's Students

This past Tuesday the students from Room 308 at Churchill Alt. threw a "surprise" baby shower for Arlo. They arranged for Jenny to come to school during the second break, and they organized to bring in a variety of food and drinks. There were a good number of parents who took time out of their day to drop in for the shower. The class had a great time checking Arlo out, and then they presented him with a number of thoughtful gifts, including a wonderful quilt they all helped to make. Each of them created designs for the different squares of the quilt, and Cheryl Brouse, Ray's classroom volunteer extraordinaire, quilted the various pieces together. Check out their handiwork in these pictures.

Stripes!

Arlo loves this outfit Auntie Ti gave him. It reminds his Daddy about a Johnny Cash song called Stripes, but Mom thinks it looks like an old time swimsuit. He doesn't care what it looks like, he just knows he looks good in it!

Arlo liked listening to Daddy play tunes on his guitar tonight so much that they spent some time in the backyard listening to some Blue Rodeo songs. He's a big Canadian music fan.

Father's Day Fun

Arlo and Daddy hanging out on Father's Day

Arlo went on his first hike on Father's day (if you don't count a marathon to the Byward Market he went on with his Mom last week). He drove up to Gatineau Park with Mom and Dad, and took a little walk around the Pink Lake trail. It is a really novice loop that takes about an hour to cover, but there are a ton of ups and downs, and great views all around. He got caught in a rainshower on last leg of the trail, but was kept nice and warm and cosy in the sling Momma was wearing, and with a blanket over his hear for the rain. He sure loved the fresh air! He is already looking forward to a camping trip he has planned with his best buds Hayden and Daisy in August.
Arlo stopping for lunch on the trail (he's under cover!).
Why learn how to walk if Mom will carry me everywhere?

Arlo sends Father's Day wishes

Happy Father's Day 2010! Ray got the best gift ever just under four weeks ago. Here is a picture of him just moments after he became a father, holding baby Arlo for the very first time. For Father's Day they plan to hang out, go for a hike in Gatineau Park, and call Arlo's grandfathers and wish them a happy Father's Day. Here are some pictures of Arlo with his grandfathers. He hopes that they enjoy their day, and that he gets to see them soon.

Close ups

Arlo's Mama and Dad are amazed with him on a regular basis. It is more fun than T.V., like a lot of people have told us. He turned a lot of heads at Westfest on the weekend. Jenny has been out ever day except one since she has been home with him, so we are used to being out, but lots of people are amazed by how little he his. In Jenny's terms he is "still fresh." The little guy is celebrating his three week birthday. Happy three weeks to you Arlo, and to all your cute parts!

Hangin out at the festival

Arlo thinks that Westfest is the 'best fest' after catching the Sloan concert late Saturday in Westboro, and cruising the streets at the festival all day Sunday to catch some of Daddy's former students in acts like "Boom" and "Bens with Beats." He hung out on the patio at Milagro, spent some time on the grass at the main stage, and had about a million people stop to check him out. 19 days old and already a couple of concerts under his belt. Rock on Arlo!

A whale of a good time...

Arlo rocked it at his first house party this past Saturday. He kinda slept through most of it, and he didn't 'wail' at all, but he was sporting a great whale print outfit courtesy of Auntie T (Tiiu). Thanks Scott and Marlene for being great 'baby friendly' hosts. Check out Jenny and Arlo hangin at the party. Don't let the picture fool you. Jenny has still only had a sip of beer in the past nine months.

Mmmmmm...Visitors.......

People are so thoughful. Since Arlo has been home from the hospital we have had quite a few people helping us out in a number of ways. The most delicious way has been gifts of food and drink that have arrived unexpectedly. Our thoughtful neighbours, Patrick and Christine, across the street, gave us a gift of a week's worth of dinners from a local restaurant/caterer called the Red Apron (we are really excited to check that out because the menu sounds fantastic!). Jack and Kim stopped by with a quiche, the Goodmans brought a care package with Brie wine and beer, and and tonight Shellie and Jonah dropped in for a visit, and they came with a giant bag full of take out Thai food! Yummy! I guess we will find out right away if Arlo likes spicy food!

Auntie Kim n Katie

Arlo's Auntie Kim and cousin Katie came for a visit this past weekend. They loved meeting little Arlo for the first time, and he really liked all the attention they gave him.

Strike a Pose!

Dressed to Impress!

Arlo and Daddy stepped out on the town Saturday night in their best duds for Scott's birthday party. Looking sharp boys!(but it looks like they can't handle late nights just yet!)

Special visitors

Arlo had some special visitors drop by tonight. Jack and his mom Kim stopped by (the quiche is delicious Kim, thanks!) and Arlo had a great time meeting them. (Jack was in Ray's class and Kim was our pre birthing teacher, and her help made a world of difference in the delivery) Then Hayley, Molly, and their family dropped in (we love the gift basket, and Daddy already has that Guiness cooling for the weekend). As you can see Arlo is becoming quite the ladies man.

Pals for sure

Arlo spent some time this week hangin with a special new friend, and he thinks they might turn out to be great pals in the year to come. Tiiu and Scott's son Hayden was sure that Jenny was growing a baby crocodile in her belly (that had sharp teeth and said "goo goo ga ga"), and though he was disappointed at first, he is coming around and thinks Arlo is pretty neat (even without the sharp teeth). Arlo also enjoyed hanging with Hayden's cute little sister Daisy. Scott isn't sure if he likes the idea of Arlo and Daisy spending time together, but he'll get used to it.
