A Little Leprechaun

Arlo got his first taste of the annual celebration of all things Irish here in Ottawa last weekend when he took in the St. Patrick's Day parade on Bank Street. It was a fun little parade (mostly sponsored by the Heart and Crown pubs), with lots of green tinsel and balloons, but it was the marching bands and the horses that caught his attention the most.
Arlo celebrated his first St. Patrick's Day this past week. With a lime green top, and a pair of trousers that would make a golf pro proud, he sure did look ready for the day from the start. He headed out for a stroll with his folks to the market in the afternoon. The market, having roots in the Irish workers who built the Rideau canal over 150 years ago, is pretty much the best place in Ottawa to find people celebrating on March 17th, and sure enough, there were line ups at most of the pubs by four in the afternoon! A brief stop in one of the newest pubs in the area was just enough for Arlo to attract some attention and smiles (we left before anyone mistook him for a real leprechaun and tried to steal his pot of gold). Before leaving he was given a real fun hat from the Keith's beer rep which his daddy made him wear all the way home (that got quite a few laughs and smiles). It was a fun day, and a nice way to spend his last one with his papa before leaving for Toronto.

You might be smiling dad, but I'm not impressed! Get that off my back.
Even Teddy got into the spirit of things.
